Welcome to my website

I offer online video counselling sessions.

For some people online counselling is a good option — and this is especially so during the coronavirus outbreak while in person meeting is difficult or impossible. Online counselling has the particular benefit of allowing you to relax in the comfort of own home, without the need to travel.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Counselling
In my experience many people find that simply being able to express themselves freely and explore their thoughts and feelings in the supportive environment of counselling sessions awakens clarity and the strength to move on with their lives.  My role as counsellor is to provide this supportive environment and to facilitate your own healing process.  In practice I will listen to you non-judgementally, allowing you space to explore at your own natural pace, providing empathic responses and prompting further exploration where this seems helpful.  This is the essence of the Person-Centred (or ‘non-directive’) counselling in which I am primarily trained.  However, I will always seek to adapt my approach to your individual needs and can offer perspectives from other therapeutic traditions, such as Jungian psychology if this feels helpful.
People seek counselling for a wide variety of reasons and everyone's experience is unique.  I have experience working with the broad areas listed below, but please feel free to get in contact with me if none of these describe what is troubling you.
    • Bereavement, or other disturbing changes/transitions
    • Feeling depressed
    • Relationship issues
    • Emotional issues
    • Traumatic experience
    • Lack of meaning or purpose
    • Feeling stuck, unfulfilled, or unsure of what direction to take
    • Intrusive thoughts, or obsessional behaviours
    • Spiritual issues
Sessions
If you would like to discuss the possibility of sessions please contact me by telephone, email, or the contact form to arrange a no obligation discussion.
If we decide to work together we will agree a suitable weekly time and I will send you all necessary information for connecting to our Zoom video call.  (If you don’t already have Zoom installed on a device – phone, tablet or computer – I can point you to full instructions for the easy setup procedure.)
The fee for a 1 hour session is £35.  I will email you details for online bank transfer and PayPal before the first session.
Ethics
As a counsellor I take confidentiality very seriously and under normal circumstances would never speak of the things you bring up in sessions, nor identify you as a client.  Counsellors generally speak with a supervisor on a regular basis this ensures a good quality of work.  However, when talking with my supervisor I speak about clients in such a way that you could not be identified.
Zoom video conferencing is secure, especially with the "waiting room" feature, which ensures no one can enter the online counselling room without my knowledge.
I can guarantee a peaceful environment at my end.  I will ask you to ensure as far as possible that you have peaceful and secluded conditions in order to feel emotionally safe during and immediately following sessions.
